I have been working on a design for the Menards Buildings. There is no reason
not to look at the Woodland Scenics buildings as well.

Why not Woodland Scenics buildings? They are about the nicest prebuilt
buildings on the market. They do tend to be expensive and have some fragile
details, but they have a lot of detail and do look good. And their lighting
works off of accessory power.

I don't have any Menards buildings, but if I remember right they are powered
from wall warts (110 V AC to 4.5V DC). So they won't work off the transformer
accessory power unless you put in a 14 V AC to 4.5V DC converter.
Also the buildings tend to be fairly large. I think all Menards building
would tend to overwhelm the layout. Doesn't mean you couldn't mix Menards and
MTH buildings.

Weighing in on the Menards buildings - yes they are nice but also expensive -
the amount appropriated won???t go very far. The major problem with their
buildings are the electrical hookups- this will involve more costs to do
properly. MTH buildings are much cheaper and anyone in the club can wire them.
Come visit my layout and see the Menard buildings wiring - difficult &
expensive. I invite the electricians in the club to see my layout and recommend
what to do.?? Happy New Year everyone! Bob B

Subject: [rc3r] Buildings for 12x15 Layout
At the annual 2019 meeting we approved $1500 expenditure for buildings for
the 12x15 layout. That expenditure did not take place. If we do this it should
be re-approved at our next annual meeting. In discussion with members a
suggestion was made to populate the 12x15 layout 100% with Menards Buildings.
For those of you that may not be familiar with Menards check out their
offerings.
This will be an agenda item for the next annual meeting.
