This looks very interesting.  As a rule, Porsches are kinda boring (356 and 911 variants) but the 904-917-962 series are pretty kool.  If nothing else, there's no conflict with the salt flats. 

I'm still thinkin about leavin Speed Week a day early to go to the Historics (Aug 19-21) but it's gonna depend on the state of my race car.  If it's running and ready for World of Speed in September, I could do it.  If not...well, it'll be thrash time for me.  Here's some of today's progress:



The ratchet shifter is installed and adjusted as much as can be done without the car running.  The cable is routed and zip-tied into place and the back-drive mechanism (steering wheel lock...and if I wanna tear into the dashboard, the gear indicator) is connected.  That's one thing off the list. 



The new bracket for throttle return springs, throttle and throttle valve cables is installed and waiting for connecting hardware.



On the other side of the carb, the new pressure regulator and gauge is in place.  I'm gonna have to pull the carb off again to connect the vacuum line for the power brake booster, but then it otta be ready.  Then it's onto the electrical stuff like the fan and ignition box.

So...if I get a buncha work done, I might make the Historics.  If not, I'll be working on this critter.
