It musta been 350 (217 mph) cuz that was about what they were running.  I can't say that they were disappointed:

That was wonna the post-run celebration shots.  They really made a big deal of it.  If ya look closely, you'll see that they had everything taped up...including the doors.  They tried it without the wing (of all the dumb things) and it went every which way but straight.  Then they put the wing on and made two runs in the same direction, both about 217.

I had to add this image.  I started wondering what happened to the front wheel cover.  Then I looked for a shot to show that they were running wide slicks.  That's when I realized what the wheel covers were:

Foam board held in place with zip ties.  The front one musta come off during one of the runs, although I didn't hear anything about it on the radio and the other front one was on when he did some donuts (they had a hell of a time convincing the guys in the pits that it would be safe...and it was.)

I sure wish I'd been able to understand Portuguese.  I might have found out what they REALLY were doing (I figger it was a publicity stunt but other than that I don't have a clue.)

Yep, it kinda sorta did.  Amazing stuff!    That Brazilian car...How much is a Brazilian...like a million?  And what's  300 KPH in real numbers?

Did it look sorta kinda like this?

They (the OSU team) ripped the hydrogen fuel cell stuff out and went with newer technology lithium batteries and got their 300+ record...at 80 percent max power.  But when they decided to crank it all the way up and go for broke, that's exactly what they got: broke.  They destroyed the clutch and had to park it.  They were thinking about a 350 run.  They might be back for the Shootout in late September.  We'll see what happens then.

This one was there, too:

A Brazilian stock car, bleeve it or don't.  Must have a handful of money (several, in fact) cuz they also ran at Miller's on Monday.  As I understand it, they wanted to hit 300 kph and did with room to spare.  They also had a coupla dozen paparazzi with 'em, not to mention video crews and helicopter.  If ya look up Caca Bueno, you can learn a little about the driver.  Btw, that's a Chevy.  I think it's a Vectra...more or less.  Had a big V8 sound to it, no question about that.

I went out on Tuesday and came back yesterday.  You'd think I woulda had enough after almost 2 weeks there, but no, I had to go back again.  After I shoot the Concours, I'll head out again for the motorcycle-only meet called BUB.  I'll be back sooner or later.
