Hello. I recently got some Raspberry Pi's. At first I planned to replace
all of my Apple TV and Airport Expresses with Pese. Now it occurs to me
that I can do lots of cool things.
I have four of them running Raspian Lite. I had no trouble burning the
image and getting them going by following the instructions. I use Arch
on my desktop, but couldn't get it working, so decided to just go with
the standard.
For audio broadcasting I use Snapcast,
<https://github.com/badaix/snapcast> and it works beautifully. I have
the server and an instance of the client on my desktop, and the Pi's run
the client. I also hooked up a Hifiberry. <https://www.hifiberry.com/> I
don't exactly consider myself a hardware person and this has helped me
feel more comfortable, but I still plan to have a sighted friend with an
eye for hardware come over this weekend and take a look over things.
I have amazing lossless Linux powered audio streaming around my condo,
and it works more reliably and sounds better than AirPlay. Good stuff so
far!
