Is it good to buy Raspberry Pi with more ram, or 2 GB is enough and
Raspberry is slow because it reads from SD card? And what do you
prefer, 4 or 8 GB Ram?
It largely depends on how many applications you run concurrently and
how RAM-hungry they are. I have a Pi that runs a bunch of
light-weight server processes for light traffic and 1GB is plenty.
But try to run a browser and it quickly gets sluggish. Desktop
applications (such as the ones you list) are notorious hogs.
I am using Firefox, Seamonkey, Audacity and Pluma and sometimes
Libreoffice too, but nothing more I don't need.
That's a lot to run concurrently in a mere 2GB of RAM. If you only
run one of them at a time, you should have better luck. It will
still be slow but not as bad if you try to run them all concurrently.
Especially if you're also running Orca. I had an old hand-me-down
laptop with 3GB of RAM and even just running Orca and Firefox was an
almost unusable experience. For running such things concurrently,
4GB is almost a bare minimum while 8GB is better.
