Thank you for the prompt reply.

I guess what I am really interested is in getting the serial number of
the serial number, since I have 4 racks full of HP Blades, and I can not
take them down (unless it is really late, and who whats to work late) to
get the serial number, getting the serial number from the motherboard is
really more important (to us anyway) for warranty purposes.

I'm pretty sure you can see the serial numbers of individual blades through the main ilo interface for the chassis (can't verify this from home easily).

You should also find the serial number on pullout labels which slide in between the front of each blade. From memory it's on the left hand side of each blade - just a thin piece of plastic with a barcode and number on, there should be an `ear' sticking out for you to grab hold of.

Hi Luis,

what exactly so you wanna see?
There is, at the moment, no real implementation for snmp on server objects.
I only added a new attribute called "Productnumber" in my environment,
that's all.

Can you send me a screen print of how this looks in the object
configuration, it sounds like something we might like to use...

Hi,

Since most of us which use HP/Compaq servers install the Insight Agents
to
manage them and could find this add-on very helpfull.
Is it possible to make an "SNMP Get" function for server equipment as
well?
Those information could be obtained easily:
Serialnumber/Barcode:
 * OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.1.0
 * Type: String
 * Example: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.1.0 = OCTET STRING XXX00000XX
Asset Tag:
 * OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.3.0
 * Type: String
 * Example: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.3.0 = OCTET STRING MY_ASSET_TAG
Productnumber (I added this in my environment):
 * OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.6.0
 * Type: String
 * Example: 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.2.2.2.6.0 = OCTET STRING 418315-421

I think the first and second apply to every racktable installation, but
the
third one only to mine or anybody else who has added the productnumber
as
field.
But this would be a start to support every hardware vendor if he
supports
this information through snmp.
