[racktables-users] Patch panels

Patch panels are an interesting device. They're straight, physical
passthroughs; you plug something in on the front, it goes out a cable on
the back, and connects to something somewhere else.

Racktables has the ability for me to add ports to a patch panel device, so
if I have a 48-port patch panel, I could add 96 ports in Racktables, call
half of them "FRONT", and half of them "BACK". But Racktables doesn't have
a way to recognize that FRONT01 is a direct link to BACK01. I could make
that connection manually, but then I wouldn't be able to link any port on
any other device with either position on the patch panel, rendering it
useless.

I hope I'm missing something here; if I can get patch panels in Racktables
to work the way I'd like, then I can easily turn around and script up a
wiring diagram generator that reads from the database, generates a dotfile,
passes it to Graphviz and presents me with a useful diagram.
