Thanks everyone for the input. I copied the directory to the backup server and everything is working fine. As for the possibility of corrupting the backup database that Oliver mentioned I already have a user with read only privileges to use so no changes will be made from that server. Racktable is just php code that fetch all its data from the database. You could just copy the webapp from server1 to server2 and change the configuration file to set the slave database as its database. *no need to run the install or anything. Copy paste folder and update configuration file. But by doing that, you are risking to have split brain issue... The application racktable wasn't developed to work in that type of environment and won't do any sanity check to prevent corruption. Racktable is not cluster aware. When you work in clustering at the infra level, it is important to have an application that is aware of the cluster or do abstraction *like in virtualization* to avoid corruption of data. I am now trying to install racktables butI get to step 5 of 7 and the installer says: Your database is already holding 65 tables, so I will stop here and let you check it yourself. There is some important data there probably. Is there a way around this? I suppose I could install to a new db and then import all the tables but then I would need to set up the replication all over again.
