Hope you're all doing ok.
I've set up a zoom meeting for next Wednesday 30th Sept 7-8pm for us to
have a cataloguing catch up.
If you've had a go at cataloguing a zine or two from the scanned zines then
we can chat through our records together, share any advice, and just try
and make it as collaborative as possible.
If you haven't had chance to catalogue a zine yet then you're still very
welcome to attend, I think it would be really useful for all of us even if
you haven't started cataloguing yet so just wanted to really make it clear
that absolutely everyone is welcome and hopefully this is the first of our
monthly cataloguing catch-ups. Plus there's still time if you want to have
a go at cataloging , the link to the scanned zines plus the cataloguing
manual are at the beginning of this email chain if you scroll all the way
down.
Also I just realised I never set up a second cataloguing workshop for
anyone who couldn't attend the last one. I will do that this week as well!

Thanks for all the scanning action, have just managed to replace my
ancient dinosaur laptop that finally went under so should be able to do

Here are some dates that I am available at the moment if that helps keep

Hopefully by then we should know whether or not we have been successful
with the funding application we put through as well, so will be able to let
people know a bit more about that if successful.

Absolutely no hurry, everyone can totally catalogue at their own pace
and there's no deadlines with this. Good luck with the house move!
Would anyone find it useful to have another cataloguing chat/meeting at
the end of September to see how we've found cataloguing our first zines so
far? If there are any tricky bits or fields we struggle with then we can
compare notes and come up with some solutions together?

On page 2 of the manual you'll find log in details and links to the
library catalogue, let us know if you have any problems though.

You shouldn't need to log on to view these files but if there are any
weird permission settings for this folder then the user id is
queerzinelibrary@xxxxxxxxx and the password is Ilovezines123.
In this folder I've also created an excel doc letting you know which
barcode to use when you're cataloguing. Some of the zines in the folder
also include a handy donations form as part of the pdf which should make
your lives a little bit easier.
Feedback suggests that everyone is happy to select their own zines to
catalogue for now? If this works for you all then can you add your name to
the excel sheet so that we can all see which zines have been claimed or are
in process of being catalogued and which zines are free for others to
catalogue.
I hope that all makes sense and I'll keep adding scanned zines to this
folder as a regular task from now on. If there's an easier way of doing
things then let us know as I'm worried I've made too many folders and too
many documents and don't want this to be confusing for anyone!
I'm going to hold another cataloguing training session in the next 2
weeks for anyone who couldn't attend the last one, but also if anyone wants
to have a refresher to build up confidence then feel free to attend, I'll
send some details round in a separate email about cataloguing training and
also about creating an accountability doc.
