For a guy claiming "cultural misunderstanding," this Japanese software
engineer sure has a good knowledge of American tort culture. Seems to me he
could also have a case in assault, but given his past behaviour the judge
might go for "self defense."

Eager coder files suit against Britney Spears over hurt feelings

A Japanese software engineer has filed suit against the sultry pop diva
Britney Spears, claiming she caused him "extreme emotional distress."

Masahiko
<http://britney.rjhnet.com/bp/news/english/art03-048.shtml>Shizawa, a
wealthy software entrepreneur from Yokohama, claims Spears' security team
pulled out a piece and traumatized him in a recent encounter. Spears'
muscle is said to have confronted him on a street. The lawsuit was filed on
Thursday in a Los Angeles court. Now here's the catch.

Shizawa happens to have a nasty history of following Spears wherever the
Oops one goes. Just two weeks ago, a judge handed down a restraining order
against the coder, banning him from coming near Spears for the next three
years.

Shizawa is said to have allegedly sent hundreds of letters to Spears and to
have popped up at the front door of her Los Angeles home. Spears once
reached an out of court settlement with Shizawa in which he agreed to stop
contacting her. But, of course, he started sending letters again, and she
took the matter to court.

The Japanese man's lawyer Simon Robert Hiller has argued that the whole
thing is simply a "cultural misunderstanding."

This after he mailed tender missives such as "I'm chasing you."

Maybe Shizawa is just trying to come to grips with the same shocking news
that has plagued us all. Britney is not a virgin.
