I was being conceived during the summer of 1978, when Craig J. Cornelius was building his first RSRB, which featured a four-bar linkage steering mechanism.

Michael, your energy saving spring or flywheel idea is shared by lots of other engineers. I favor the spring, because a flywheel is heavy and might disturb steering by its gyro force.
I am nuts about building an amphibious python since summer last year and nothing concrete has happened yet :-)
