Hello Matthias,
Slipping out of the seat in corners doesn't happen on bikes - as the bike
leans, your weight is always perpendicular to the seat (unless you get bounced
by a pothole). Trikes are another thing, there the slipping occurs all the time.
I only have experience with handlebars on the front part and all of the seat on
the rear, and I'm pretty sure my bike would be unridable if half of the seat
was moved to the front. You need to have enough contact with both parts of the
bike, otherwise you can't apply steering torques. Mounting the handlebars onto
the rear part might solve it, but steering would feel reversed. I don't know,
maybe it can work, but I wouldn't try it myself.
The closest match to take inspiration from is probably the Bipolar, although
there was a different reason for a split seat:

Another approach is the Organic Engines rickshaw where handlebars are on the
rear and everything else (including the whole seat) on the front. But that's a
trike.

Hello everyone,
I'm Matthias (currently living in Leipzig) and I've been reading about
the Python for a couple of weeks now. I really want to get my own! I've
started to create some plans and had the idea to split the seat into two
parts: the bottom part would be attached to the front wheel frame part,
while the backrest would be attached to the rear wheel frame part. Now I
want to ask for your opinion: what do you think would this mean for the
overall feeling riding the bike? Do you feel that while cornering you
sometimes slip out of your seat, and would splitting the seat into two
parts improve this problem? In this way the hips would always be
perpendicular to the front wheel. On the other hand, I don't know
whether in this configuration the steering would still be done using
one's legs or in contrast mostly with the back, and how that would
influence the feeling. What do you think?
