The person at the New Orleans Photo Alliance said that they would not be able to see my credit card information.

What is an Air Bill?

I prefer to use UPS as it is more convenient for me. I wonder if they have something like what you are describing.

Shannon, I have a Fed Ex account and I'd just send them an Air bill, and information empty except the ship to address. If you were to use a blank Fed Ex slip with your credit card info onit, the big downside is that that number is available to anyone to see it along the way. You might consider opening an account with Fed Ex.

Ok, now for my semi-annual question about how to ship photographs:

I have gotten the packing and boxing thing down pat now. My new problem is: return shipping.

I have to send a photo to a show in New Orleans. They said to include a return shipping label. I got to thinking: what if they sell my photo? Unlikely, but I hope it will happen. What happens to the return shipping I paid? I emailed them and asked. They said that you can get a kind of label that's only charged to your card if it's used. I went to Copy, Pack, and Ship (formerly Mailboxes). The owner said that he didn't know of that kind of label; that if I bought a return label from him, and it wasn't used, I wouldn't get a refund.

I looked at the email from the NOLA people and it said:

If you include a UPS or FedEx label, you are not charged until the item is shipped. From these companies you get a number that charges an item to a credit card to which we do not have access.

How do you get this number? Do you set this up online or something? You get an account, and print out the label on your computer?

Or what?

TIA,
