I have spoken with Thomas. We arranged a sale of 33 safelights for China, and then it hit me that we could become a distributor for them. The supplier of their sheet metal bailed out on them and they are in the process of finding another. At some point, we will have the safelights for sale, along with spare bulbs.

When I bought my safelight and started using it in 1981, I bought a spare bulb. There could be little worse in the darkroom then being in the middle of a printing session and having your safelight go out and being unable to replace the bulb. So far, after 28 years of heavy usage, the original bulb is still working just fine.

Michael,
That's GREAT to hear that Thomas is going to start making lights again. I
have one, and one remaining extra bulb, but always wondered what would
happen when one day that last spare bulb finally died.
Thanks for the news,
Bob Younger

I use a Thomas safelight. not only is it bright enough to read by (even when
the vanes are turned down low for enlarging paper, but there is zero eye
adjustment time when the lights are turned on or off.

At the moment you will need to find a used one, as Thomas is not
manufacturing them at the moment. They will be doing so in the near future.
