As many have suggested that they are not due to air bubbles, let's consider other possibilities. 1) If Kurt does not use a presoak and if he pours the developer in through the top of his tank, those could be "splashes" of developer on the film as it is filling causing increased development in those areas of the neg and higher density. 2) Another possibility is air bubbles when he fills the Stop bath. These would allow development to continue in those areas with the bubbles but stop it elsewhere again leaving higher density in those areas of the neg. Hey, I am just guessing! CHEERS!
