I also settled on T-Max 100 rated at EI 50 developed in D-23. In the past I
used Perceptol with superb results.
I have started using Pyrocat_MC in a Jobo with nitrogen injection to control developer oxidization, and I look forward to testing T-max 100 & 400.

Perceptol or Microdol-X is finer grained than D-23, enough to see a difference. D-25 is another possibility but it may cause dichroic fog on modern emulsions like T-Max, Delta, or Fuji Acros. Microdol-X evidently contains an anti-silvering agent to prevent this although I don't know exactly what it is. I suspect that Perceptol has the same thing, certainly Ilford knows about using anti-silvering agents in developers. It could be that D-25 would work fine without it but, if you decide to try it, I would test on a negative of no value. D-25 is similar to D-23 but it is buffered to neutral pH with Sodium Bisulfite. It has similar properties to Microdol, however, Microdol and Perceptol use common table sale (Sodium Chloride) as the fine grain agent.
