Hi,
No to the camara repair. The camera came to me with the metal guide
rails
bent and the shutter open. I think I just cut it so it would roll up to use
with my 210mm/4.5 Congo lens. I cut the wood in a corner to fit
the large Copal 3 shutter. This lens now fit the Graflex 5x7, the Sinar
4x5, and when I get a custom made Sinar to Kodak 2D on order, on
the 8x10 where it just covers at infinity.

The question is whether he tore out the curtain or the whole shutter
mechanism. If the former repair is not too difficult although having the
old shutter curtain helps because it has the metal slits in it which can be
reused.
I have a 4x5 Graflex Super-D with a Graflok back on it. They are big,
heavy, cameras but are well balanced because they were intended to be hand
held. The Super-D has the advantage of a diaphragm that stops down
automatically but the manual diaphragm in other models is not much of a
problem once you get used to it.
I didn't know you did camera repair.

Hi,
Richard, the problem is I ripped the curtain out years ago. It's
still good with a lens and using the mirror up/down to expose. Or
using a shuttered lens.

Just an aside, I like Graflex cameas and wonder what has happened to
the shutter. They are pretty simple, you may be able to fix it. The 5x7
cameras were once the standard press camera, usually a "Home Portrait
Graflex" with a shutter modified for higher top speeds.

Hi!
And thanks for the reminder! I just put a .018" pinhole on the
Graflex 5x7.
Even though the shutter is broke, in sunlight you can see the image
enough
to compose. I've loaded aero Panatomic-X and will spend the day shooting
and processing.
