Dear Becky Lynn, Egad. It appears to have been the year that was for you, and you have our sympathies. But we are glad to hear from you and to read that you are taking up the photo game again. A lot has happened since your last post. I'll see if I can summarize it and any thing I leave out can be added by other members. In this last year: 1. Hasselblad has been bought out by Kodak who have been bought out by Agfa who have been bought out by Cousin Benny's World 'o Discounts. This means that we will now get 30% off all fabrics purchased when we buy Zeiss lenses or Xtol developer. I am planning to rush out and save as soon as I can get my family to tell me where they have hidden my wallet. 2. The current high score on megapixels is 39. By the Law of Camera Stores this equates to $ 60,000. If anyone had said this in 1966 they would have been locked up and fed on sedatives and Pablum for the rest of their lives. 3. You can no longer get Super XX in Whole Plate. The glass factory burned down. 4. It is now illegal to submit any work anywhere to any publisher that is not pre-pressed, pre-set, and pre-approved by the American Society of Art Directors. Contravention of this law will result in your disqualification from the B&H mailing list and you will be asked to hand in your press pass. 5. Folmer and Schwing have bought out Hewlett Packard. Look for a new line of digital Graflex D's. They run on Caterpillar tractor batteries. 6. It has been discovered that used fixer and developer can be used as a substitute for pool chemicals. Particularly if it is your neighbour's pool..... Anyway, your old uncle must away and uncork his dinner. Do keep us posted about the photos you are taking. Uncle Dick
