I just wanted to make sure ALL P-S subscribers - old list and new got this.) <wanders into the room> Well, over on the old list, the bickering about who should be hosting the list is dying down. I've updated the relevant TundraWare website links to indicate that pure-silver can be found here now, and Stein is baiting me to see if I'll start an OT thread here to see if the BDFL is immune to getting his ears boxed by the new admin. Stein is an agitator and must be watched closely. He also needs to watch himself more closely - mauve socks are inappropriate with a fine knit suit. <takes a long sip of a cool adult beverage> <nearly chokes on cocktail fruit> <throws glass to the ground and just grabs the bottle> <peers blearily into the new room> See, not all that much has changed. Oh, there aren't as many subscribers here on the new list as there were in the old place, but there will be. The old list started with about 40 people and grew to over 10x that, but it took a year or two. Someone might want to consider advertising this new spot on rec.photo.*, but that's just a suggestion, since I'm just Joe User here. <lathers on sun lotion to emphasize newly relaxed skin> I plan to stick around here and pop in on topics that interest me. Please do not interpret my silence as lack of interest or support. In my old age, I am learning the value of never missing an opportunity to shut-up. <Notices that the Young Lovely on the label of the bottle has multiplied> <Addresses Lists Old And New> I want to take a moment to say a few words of thanks: Thanks to Dick K. who is an unrelenting source of photo history, trivia, and information. YOU are one of our great treasures. Dr. Dick Stein may be the funniest man with a drill in his hand. His posts collapsed me. When I make to his part of the world, he and I will likely require bail money. Please give generously when the time comes. Becky Lynn is just a joy. Her enthusiasm for this craft reminds me much of my own starting out some 30 years ago. I stand in awe of her photographic vision. She has way more "chops" than anyone of her age/experience has any right to and we should expect great things from her (or else!). This is all the more inspiring when you consider she does this with ongoing and chronic pain. You and people like you are the future of our craft and you wear the responsibility magnificently Becky. And finally, gentle readers, friends, foes, and hangers on ... YOU are what did and will make this list the resource it is. I know there's been some acrimony in this transition, but it should be viewed for what it is: growing pains. You people are terrific, your contributions consistently wonderful, and you are building a resource that will have considerable value long beyond our lifetimes. Ladies And Gentlemen, Please Start Your Timers ... <walks out smiling, proud, and expectant ...> Geez....... You could have warned me..... I was planning to go out tonight!!! I would have put on my waterproof make-up!! Now I have to wash my face and start over..... sniff, sniff..... dribble, drip.
