I believe there was a modified PMK called Rollo Pyro that worked well in roller
processors.

It’s been a while since I’ve used PMK. Gordon Hutchings once told me that PMK
liked a lot of agitation. The issue though was that it was very reactive with
oxygen and would exhaust itself quickly. He had successfully used PMK in a
continuous rotating tank by keeping it filled with nitrogen. That seemed
complicated for me.
I tried developing in a Jobo and got the expected uneven development. Also, the
developer came out as a black sloppy mess. No way to develop N, N-, N+ By
varying time.
I ended up splitting the developing time and refilling the tank with fresh PMK.
Once I dialed in the split times and duration, I had amazingly consistent
development with great shadow details good highlights. — it seemed to get what
I wanted.

Tim, I absolutely agree about Pyrocat-HD. I use it for nearly everything. I
never experienced unevenness with PMK despite agitating less than
recommended, but I'm sure it's because it's easier with roll film in an
inversion tank, compared to sheet film.
I wonder it doesn't have more to do with uneven agitation patterns. It is
alleged that it is possible to do semi-stand with PMK, which would suggest
that agitation frequency isn't critical. At some point soon I want to shoot
a couple of negs and compare PMK to Pyrocat, although PMK doesn't deliver
film speed the same way Pyrocat does ...
