"It's OK if you just need to crunch numbers and if you are satisfied with simple graphs" Yes, that is my point. It can add, average, and plot. It may not be great but for quick visual representation of info it is effective, and in my case for existing software on the computer. It's called DeltaGraph and is available for Macs and Windoze. I think they have the manual online and you can download a limited demo. I couldn't function without it. http://www.rockware.com/catalog/pages/deltagraph.html It has the benefit of curve smoothing (far beyond Excel) and makes beautiful output in eps or pdf, while leaving you with full control over gridlines, ticks, customized axis and on and on and on. You can smooth data, get the equation and take that back to Excel to play with the data if you like. I highly recommend it, but it is not cheap. Phil Davis' program is custom build but does no line smoothing, it just connects the points. In the version I used it was also limited to 21 points, which didn't work for my 31-step Stouffer, but this may have changed. It has few output controls and doesn't go far beyond regular printing (forget getting an equation from it). As far as Excel goes, ... well it's a spreadsheet, not a graphing program. It's OK if you just need to crunch numbers and if you are satisfied with simple graphs. Regards Ralph W. To begin with I will use my densitometer. Later I may try it with my scanner but, for now, please let me know about a program where you can set the X axis at steps of .15 Log E units and the Y axis as Density and pump in the readings from my densitometer. I am hoping that there is a program that draws and smoothes the curve to fit the data. Of course I would prefer a free download or to be told that it already exists in my computer hidden in some Windows accessories program but I will buy it if I must. Thanks in advance. CHEERS!
