Richard, there are two different tanks that work with that Nikor 4x5 reel: the one provided with the tank, and their dual 220 tank. The later holds a bit more chemistry, but the reel can slide which could cause greater surging. Might you have that larger tank?
(The 220 reel tanks I refer to have the old wide-spaced spirals rather than the very tightly wound 220 reels that fit in the typical, narrower tank.)
