belgium and ask him if they have any idea why this is happening. I suppose
I could try the folks at irti but I don't know if they would be willing to
assist as I did not buy the unit from them.

I'm afraid that I've no other bright ideas other than possibly downloading
the software from the PLEXTALK website in case there is something wrong with
your installation CD - you've probably tried this anyway?

Actually, I've just been on the site and noticed that there is a more
up-to-date version than I have myself. It's now up to version 2.04.00.00
so, for those with a PTR1 or PTR2, you might want to update your existing
software.

Tried this from both the plextalk drive itself and the computer's regular
cd drive.

Two suggestions:
1. Try installing the PRS from another CD/DVD drive on your computer.
Although the PTR2 has to be connected to the computer when you are doing the
installation, it does not need to be installed from the PTR2 itself.
2. Although it is now some time ago, I seem to remember having some
difficulties with the installation that related to other programmes that use
synthesizers. Double check that you don't have programmes like Dolphin
EaseReader or similar running in the background when you do the
installation. Obviously you will need to keep your speech system running if
you need this for access.

Hi to all of you.
I have my ptr2 connected to my computer and the usb destination set to cd.
When I try to install the prs software that comes with the unit, I get the
following baffling error message:
1608 unable to create install driver instance return code -24172147024894
Together with an OK button. Does this make sense to anyone?
