Hi, there.
Penny here. I don't own a ptr1 anymore. but I never had trouble with music cd's except for some that were colored; Others may have better replies for you. you want the setting that is not the mp3 setting. It sounds like: E C M 44. does the PTR have that? Of course, a commercial CD is limited to 80 minutes. but I have found that if i put 80 minutes, or 79:30 that the whole thing will not be able to be copied from my card over to the CD.
I always used a card to put the stuff on; then I transferred it to a CD.
I hope you'll have much success.
Best,
Penny

Dear Frank,

I really appreciated your reply. These disks I bought are Memorex, a pack of ten; glad I didn't buy more! I haven't tried your tip about wetting them `, but maybe I will try that.

If I want to copy some music from a cassette that can then be played on a regular CD player, what setting should I use on the ptr1?

Also, if I want to try to buy some other blanks, what brands seem to do well on the ptr1?

Thanks loads for all your help!

Bill,

It is a fact that you will find batches or brands that the PTR will not like. I once bought a couple of spindles of memorex disks that I had the same issue with. I found that if I wetted them down then toweled them off and then inserted them that it sometimes improved the situation but rather than fight it I finally just used them on my computer and bought another brand for use in my plextalk.

Dear list,

I just bought some recordable blank disks from Radio Shack. When I try to record with them I'm getting a message that says "write error." I've tried to set it up for recording music, for conference, for custom, but nothing seems to do the trick. Might these be faulty disks, or am I doing something wrong, or not doing something I should be doing. Can you please help me?
