The quality of the amplifier built into the machine certainly makes a
difference whether you use good quality headphones or not.  Things like
distortion, frequency response etc.

One of the things I would like to have had on the ptr2 is a proper line out
socket.

   The music is digital, what would be the difference in players besides
head phones.
   Did you say the pocket does not tell you in hours and minutes how much
recording time is available. That is one of the things I really like about
the p t r 1 and 2.
