Here in EU there is a lot of qrm on 80, 40, and 20. The only band that is reliable is 30m (and possibly 17m, but have not had time to try that). 3om seems to give the largest footprint during day time, 80 during dark hours. The best frquency would be 10148.250, just abpve the ALE standard channel. On 10148.000 we have often a military station blocking the qrg for 3-4 hours. First 200 Hz shift RTTY, then OFDM. I can use 30m fom home with 5 Watts to PI4TUE (12 miles) and to SM0RWO (800 miles). From here I now have a choice of SM0RWO, PI4TUE and ON4KVI, which are almost same strength, but at different times :) The path is 1000 miles to ON4KVI and 1500 miles to SM0RWO. Yesterday I had a 1 hour session with PI4TUE, with solid S6-8 and pskmail soaring with 64 char blocks and no repeats on PSk128. Then the signal disappeared completely (it was around 1800 local). Sometimes SM0RWO comes up to S8 for an hour at 2200-2300 local... It helps to have servers at different distances.... and it also helps to have them beacon on the same frequency but at different minutes, like we do on 10148.000 73, Rein EA/PA0R/P > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Gesendet: 01.02.07 01:16:45 > An: pskmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Betreff: [pskmail] Re: saw the N5ALE server > > Guys > I am thinking about setting up with a simpler hf rig [cheaper] and > only using one frequency what does the group consider ther best over all > frequency to use if only one is available.
