I thing I will leave this to the experts;-) You are way over my Linux
experience right now!!
We will see what Per or Rein finds out about this, that is not a
problem/bug, I think. I was just curious beacause I never seen it before.

Sorry, I was being a bit cryptic :-) What I meant to say was: can you pipe
the output character stream from fldigi into a temporary file (using "tee"),
then do a hex dump on the file (using "od -x") to discover the characters in
the stream?

I am not familiar with the details of the PSKmail code, so I don't know how
closely it is coupled to fldigi, so my suggestion may not be feasible.
