I have had some problems with Mandriva seeing some older sound cards with hardrake. In those cases, I was able to use alsaconf or sndconfig to get them configured. These two utilities are probably not installed by default but should be on the distribution cd's. I can't speak about their availability on Per's live cd.

I have spent a little time working with the PC I am setting up for PSK mail. The LIVE CD loaded fine, and it is now a 100% Linux machine.

It does not seem to see the sound card at all. It is a Soundblaster AWE64, model 4500. When I go into the Mandrive Control Center and look at Hardware, there is no indication it is there at all. Do I have a really dead soundcard, or is there something I need to do to help Linux "see" it??
