Yes, hardware PTT vua a USB port is planned, but as I have explained many times, 
I did not have time to get it going yet.

What works at the moment is:
1.: VOX (that works also on the 706... put rig in USB, switch VOX on, and adjust VOX gain via the menu...)
2.: PTT via hamlib (only for those rigs that support PTT via CAT).

I don't think I can can fix it before our next trip (starting next tuesday...) so may be someone else 
can put some time in. The code is there, the rxtx lib. is there, but it must be debugged...

Another excellent way to generate the PTT is to build an interface like the one 
described in https://sites.google.com/site/kh6tyinterface/

Thanks Per. You have saved me time. When I saw Rein's initial post, I
assumed the 706 could do this and had been tested.

Rein, will the new version do hardware PTT through another port?? I know
the setting is there but want to confirm before I spend more time on this.
