Just in case and before someone starts a research:-)
A known issue with RXTX is: it will not reconize a bluetooth GPS mouse (SPP serial).

Some Windows systems stop at COM128 ......

But you should not be offering ports from a pre-determined list. You
should be probing for ports that physically exist. (As you seem to do at
the end of the PTT list)

Was just about to say that. Rxtx can give you the list of ports on the system. 
It will also give you the correct name for them, meaning comx on windows and 
ttySx/ttyUSBx on linux.
