I did manually install the drivers as Jaws does not have this braille display in its list of supported displays. All I did was install the driver as instructed then ran a setup program that put support for the display into jaws -- I believe that may have been implemented by copying files to some folder and/or munging with the registry, but I don't know.) The installation cd and instructions came with the display and I installed it by the book. I would like to have the display running but if it's going to crash my system every few minutes I don't want to bother. More in private mail. Thanks. --le ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie McBride" <abletec@xxxxxxxxx> To: <programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 12, 2009 4:39 PM Subject: Re: system event log with errors LE: I think the problem lies w/your braille display drivers. Usually these need not be installed, as screenreaders have their own drivers to work w/the hardware. Let's remove those 1st & see what happens. This might account for the display working even though u instructed Jaws u didn't want 1. You're also getting an hp cue error. I don't know if this is because u have an hp scanner or printer, but 1 of those was causing a problem. I rather suspect, though, that even that could be due to the faulty braille display driver, so let's try killing that 1st. I have free cell service on the weekends. If u want, I could possibly call u if u need to be talked thru the uninstall of the braille display drivers. Hopefully it'll be in add/remove programs, but I'm not certain. What braille display do u have? Let me know how I may further assist &/or if my solution was correct.
