looking for: crypto library for handling public-private keys

Hello all,
In case the subject didn't say it all, I'm looking for a good, easy-to-use
crypto library for c++ that will handle encryption of blocks of data using
public and private keys.
I'd also like to find a good compression library, both cross-platform that will
allow me to compress blocks of data.
