Thanks for the info. Actually after the softphone was installed we were
able to attach a wave file to it. So when the light comes on the sound
plays. I setup it up to make the sound every ten minutes. At first it
was setup to sound every 15 seconds. Don't need to hear I have a
message every 15 seconds.

Thanks,

You can use the JAWS Frames Manager to put a little rectangle around the
message light and then assign the frame a couple of properties. First,
you
probably want JAWS to automatically announce that the color of the
message
light has changed - this will only work if the light is visible on the
screen. Also, you will want to add a keystroke to tell you the color of
the
light when you bring the program into focus. These are both doable
without
scripts in JAWS or Window-Eyes and shouldn't take much more than a few
minutes once you've read the documentation but may require a sighted
person
to help you draw the rectangle around the light if it isn't a distinct
control on the application's window.

Subject: Setting up Jaws to recognize light

Hello,

I will have what called softphone installed on my Dell laptop at work
today. I was told that in order to tell if there are any messages in
the voice mailbox I would have to see a red light in the lower right
corner of the screen. If the light is on there are messages in my voice
mail. Is there a way to get Jaws to recognize this light and tell me
there are messages? Do I have to create a script? Will a script be
able to recognize this light? If a script will work does anything have
one that already does something like this?

Thanks,
