Hi Ty,
You definitely can't go wrong if you learn Java well. Java on the web 
translates into JSP, the answer to ASP. That's the front end part of things. On 
the back side of things, there would be SQL and how Java deals with that. The 
book you got on Internet programming is a good one. If you could get through 
the tutorial at http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/reallybigindex.html, 
that would keep you really busy the whole time you are out and do you a lot of 
good.

I'm just curious, which game is it?  I'm sorry for getting off topic.  But in 
terms of web development, lots of sites use PHP, but ASP.net wouldn't hurt 
either.

Hello:
Thanks for your advice, though a console based game doesn't really get me out 
of that domain, and I honestly can't think of where that would apply. I want to 
work on projects that I can show as part of my portfolio, and I've already got 
a text-based game.
