Hi,

Thanks for the help. I found that I have to use graphicxSP instead of
graphicx, and float and hyperref I have with my MiKTeX 2.9 installation. I
am still not sure though as to what package to use instead of amsmath. Is
there anything that would allow me to use \begin{align*} in my LaTeX
document? I would like to use this instead of \begin{equation}.

I can't speak for all of them, but graphicx is definitely standard in
mixtex. I use it all the time.
