Chrome is basically a lost cause for now, the WebKit rendering engine doesn't play nice. Google Docs could be made to work in theory if a browser environment really ready to handle all those Javascript events for a blind user could be gotten off the ground. Google Docs does implement ARIA, and the page on using Docs with a screen reader claims Docs is accessible with FF3+ and any screen readers supporting ARIA. I haven't tried Docs with an Aria-supporting screen reader personally. See more at http://docs.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=152439

I also have fiddled unahppily with Chrome but Google docs is more mixed: I can upload and download files fine but I edit in the native application, not on the web. But I have not done anything systematic to troubleshoot. I tried playing with it for a few minutes with JAWS 11 and I couldn't read what I was writing into a document. I was trying to write the document in my web browser. Is it better to make the document on my computer and upload it? Thanks. Jim Jim Homme, Usability Services, Phone: 412-544-1810. Skype: jim.homme Internal recipients, Read my accessibility blog.
