Hi, Section 508 is expected to conform to level AA of WCAG/WAI 2.0. You can self-confirm that your product is Section 508 conformant. You can also hire a consulting firm to test it for you and provide feedback, and complete a Product Accessibility Template (PAT) also sometimes called a VPAT, if you need a document for showing Section 508 conformance i.e., in selling a product to the U.S. government, or otherwise to document conformance. Section 508 has its own technical guidelines. Yes in the long run it appears the refresh of Section 508 will mirror or adopt the W3C WCAG 2.0 guidelines. In short, if you follow WCAG 2.0 you will more or less also meet Section 508 currently. The converse is not necessarily true. -----Original Message----- From: program-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:program-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gabe Castellanos Sent: Wednesday, September 25, 2013 4:34 PM To: program-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [program-l] section 508 compliance Hi All Is there a certification for websites that say they are 508 compliant? and if so, how does one go about meeting/obtaining it? I know that theres supposed to be some movement to make the 508 pretty much the same as the w3c,but not sure how that plays out as far as certification/s go.
