Hi Tim,
The issue that Florian mentions is that though you can install the
distro on wsl2, it would be limited. I suppose because MS have broken
the network access of wsl. At least nmap does not work there and it
might be true for other more advanced tools.
@Florian,
what about vagrant? Any idea?

Giving it it's own virtual machine gets around most of them, especially if
you have USB peripherals like network cards you can send straight to the
VM.
Thing is, last time I checked the installer of Kali wasn't super
accessible. With some help, I managed to create a talking Kali VM a month
or two back to get around this issue.

Kali linux is available as wsl distro. Recently I had the occasion to
search for network authentication scanner a.k.a ncrack and they had
nice descriptions on the distro website together with various other
tools. If I have the time, I'll download the os and play with it.

Difficult. But certainly not impossible.
The good news is, most of the online text-based tutorials you will find
on
the subject are perfectly accessible.
Bad news, not all tools those tutorials will tell you tu use are. So
...I
would suggest googling the subject, makybe picking up a book or five.
Cybrary comes up a lot, but is a little outdated last time I checked.
Googling, looking at forums and reddit threads is a good way to vet
resources and find the best ones.
Then when you get into it and run into inaccessible tools, come talk to
me.
I've been doing some digging into this over the last months and I intend
to
release my findings but I just haven't had the time to finish it yet.
