[program-l] Problem installing python packages, Unrecognized command line option, mno-cygwin

Basically, the subject says it all. I get this error when attempting to use pip or easy_install to install certain packages. I'm running Python27, not sure which version of MinGW , but that seems to be the problem. The issue is documented here, but I don't know a fix:

Do I need to downgrade my MinGW or what?
