[program-java] Dates...

Formerly in Visual Basic 6.0 there was functionality that would allow me to
convert a date to an integer.... I.E. cInt(cDate(Date)) which in turn would
give me a value of type int and a number roughly 37000.... depending upon the
actual date.
Is there similar functionality in Java?
