Thanks for the fast replies, great support ! Anyway, is there a way to access the defined textheight value (used in many powerdot-styles) directly? Trying the \pd@@textheight thing does not work. I need a length which defines the available height in the "text" window for positioning pictures using \rput and the textheight variable seems to fit my needs.
