I think I found my next photography workstation. The very worthy thing about
the new 5K Retina iMac is that the monitor has been redesigned. While the "old"
5K monitor was good, it only encompassed the sRGB color space. This new model
encompasses a newly developed DCI/P3 color space. Though "P3" originates from
the movie world, it is about as wide a gamut (a range of colors it can
reproduce) as AdobeRGB. That's about as good as it gets these days for mortals
with under $6,000 to spend.

From a practical perspective, this means that the display of Raw images will be
noticeably more vibrant and in line with your camera's capabilities. No need to
zoom down to 50 or 75% to fit your screen. 5K screens show way more detail
because the software doesn't have to resample and resize and squish the
original wide range of colors to fit an old-style monitor.

If you enjoy printing, prints will better match the screen in color intensity.
