It should work with either, but you should just change the priviledge 
settings. In windows right click on file and select properties and uncheck the 
read only box. Something similar on other OS's but I can't remember off the 
top of my head. If you do change to using php instead of php3, make sure you 
delete the other ones, as the order of preference is php3, php, inc.
