ATX power supplies are pretty standard. Newer ones will have extra 
connectors for things like Pentium boards, SATA and SLI.
I've gotten then from Tiger Direct and this place with no problems:

You may have a shop in your area like Computer Renaissance.
It certainly sounds as though your diagnosis is correct.
I wonder about the dimensions-maybe it's a proprietary PS?
