OK, it doesn't look like you and Gman were able to work out a time for him
to look at your PC, so.....

Since Embird 2008 Build 8.4 was release in October, I'm assuming this is the
version you upgraded to. Right at the top of the download page
(http://www.embird.com/sw/embird/newdown.htm) it says:

"If downloaded file is corrupted, close your antivirus and firewall programs
and try to download again, please. See also Tutorial.

Known issues:
McAfee Antivirus software might quarantine parts of Embird. Until this
problem is solved, we recommend to use different antivirus software, e.g.
NOD32."

So that's why I asked you to disable antivirus and firewall when installing
Embird. Their FAQ also mentions something to that effect if you get a
registry error using Iconizer.

I see 5 files available on their download page.
1) Embird (which includes Iconizer, Cross Stitch and Font Engine),
2) Studio 5.0 (which includes Digitizing Tools and Sfumato Stitch)
3) the Alphabets
4) Tutorials plugin (not on download page, available elsewhere)
5) the All-In-One install file (includes all the above).

Which of those files on their download page did you install? I will install
it to see if I have any problems, but I want to install the same file you
did.

When you say you "had to delete and reinstall 3 times", by delete do you
mean you deleted the folder or uninstalled? Their FAQ recommends:

How to update on the new build of Embird 2008?
----------------------------------------------
- Your password for the basic Embird 2008 and all its plug ins will be valid
for the new build, update is free.
- Back up your password for Embird 2008 (open Embird 2008 in Manager, select
Help- > Password).
- Download new installation file of the basic Embird from
http://www.embird.com/sw/embird/newdown.htm
- Uninstall old Embird (select Start -> Programs -> Embird 2008 -> Unistall
Embird 2008).
- Install new Embird.
- Recover password (open Embird 2008 in Manager, select Help- > Password).

this was a recent update to an already installed Embird 2008-- and one of
the things they recommend doing while downloading is disabling any AV???? I

don't think so...but disabling whilst installing is not unheard of as long
there is no connection to Interenet. I had to delete and reinstall 3 times
because it wasn't installing properly for some reason and that was when I
got the error problem...at all three 3 times but only at the install. The
program does function BUT I haven't used enough of it to find out IF
anything is really going to cause a problem---yet.
