Just be aware, give Apple about 5 years of combatting security threats and you'll be where MS is today. And if M$ frustrates you, I can't imagine what Linux will do.... Yes it's a great OS, but if something goes wrong, you'd better be able to work the command line with efficiency. Period. No Exception. If my Larry (my partner) or my Mom ever need a new one it will be either Linux or Apple. I will NOT deal with another M$ piece of (expletive deleted). You only have 3042 thins on your annoyance list? How did you fix the other 2483? How do you access the uber-administrator account. Is that the default account that Windows creates on installation and you use to create additional accounts? Or does it require some secret code or key combination to get to? What was the tweak you used to make it your normal account? It will get me talking about things like, many years ago I watched for a fix for a "known issue" in MS-Word that stayed a "known issue" for several years and different versions before I finally gave up waiting for a fix. And I'll cut myself short and not list the other 3,042 things I'd like to add. About the "Run as Administrator" in Win7 (I'll not even mention the "V" word that rhymes with Mista, otherwise I may have to mention half of the above mentioned gripes). Hmm, I'm not sure where to begin... Anyway, a Win7 Administrator account does not let you do everything, and even less if you do not use the "Run as Administrator" option. Although you can do more with what most people refer to as a "Super Administrator" account than you could with a regular "Administrator" account. Confused yet? The "Super Administrator" is the first Administrator account created on Win7, usually during Win7 installation. The easiest way to tell which one you are using is by exploring to C:\ then right-click in the root of "C:" and see if you have the option available to create a text file. If option is not available then you have a "less than Super" Administrator account. I don't know a lot about the limitations, but I don't care because I did a registry patch on my Win7 test partition that makes all Administrator account "Super Admins". Took me awhile to find that one. I also practically disabled the UAC, so I guess I'm not very secure according Microsoft, but I'm happy. ;) Ed --------------------------------------------------------------- Please remember to trim your replies (including this sentence and everything below it) and adjust the subject line as necessary.
