Nope -- neither worked -- in fact no difference in checking or
unchecking the box. I have a fat cursor in OE when I type and a
thin cursor when I type in Word. Nothing blinks -- dang I know
it used to (LOL).

In my Control Panel> Mouse I see a box for hide cursor while
typing, have=
you checked that?
If so try un checking it and Apply> then OK
Go back in to Word and test it, then go in and un-check it and
Apply > OK
Sometimes re-applying a feature will fix things.
