I have just read you mobo's manual - see what you mean about what it says about CD and Hdd placement. Never heard of that before See what it works like with the HDD as master and cd as slave both on IDE 1 would be how I would try it. Also, in the BIOS, do you have 'Onboard H/W Raid' set to enabled? The Gigabyte manual specifically says that the CD-ROM must be on IDE1 to work properly, and I've always read that you should never put your CD-ROM drive on the same cable with your hard drive. You said the HDD must be Master on IDE1. Is this a feature of the new boards? The board manual does not tell me that the HDD must be on IDE1, only the CD-ROM. I am using the Master/Slave setup, not cable select. The HDD is set as Master on it's own cable. The BIOS is currently recognizing the CD-ROM as Master and Zip as Slave because they are plugged into IDE1. When I plug the HDD into IDE1, it is recognized in the BIOS as Master. If I plug the Zip on the same cable with the HDD, it is recognized as the Slave on IDE1. Nothing is recognized on IDE2. ) ( [_]? dj First things The HDD must be Master on IDE 1 My old zip used to work on any of my IDE connections - are you using cable select or master and slave. I would try the zip as slave on IDE 1 for now Leave the CD alone for the moment With set up as above what happens? Enter BIOS and see which drives are recognized. If it will not work with cable select then manually set the jumpers to master and slave - Hdd = master -- -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
