Gman, Now I think your right on. I'm at work and stationary. As it comes to doing this stuff I'm a novice. I have tried to learn for two other people whom have been able to get the website visible. In my trying to get it visible I may have created a loop between our domain and my IP address. I also get the time out. For the webpages. The morning that I got home, I was editting in MS Frontpage and I clicked the publish button that's when everything went haywire:( Well I played some more yesterday until I started to fall asleep. When I got home yesterday I did some reading and downloaded No-Ip DUC. I'm going to take this one step at a time in the troubleshooting process. I change the redirect to DNS A under Host Type. But I have noticed the the IP address changed while I was at work and now that I'm home it has changed again. ----- Original Message ---- From: Gman <gman.pctt@xxxxxxxxx> To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, June 3, 2008 6:19:01 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Need help if possible Richard, I think I was wrong in at least one of my assumptions, so let's start over. lol The site you provided is bsatroop513.zapto.Org. When I try it from here, I get the no connection to server message. This means your site is not available for at least one of many possible reasons. It also provides me with the server's IP number and the port it uses (http://75.48.15.224:81/). Since the two point to exactly the same thing, this address is not going to work, either. When I shorten the original link to the parent domain (zapto.Org), it redirects back to no-ip.com, but even that site timed out on me until I hit refresh. This implies that there might be a problem with their redirect setup, but that's extremely far from anything conclusive. I then went on a hunt for anything the no-ip site could tell me. There is a basic troubleshooting page which is primarily for visitors to no-ip hosted sites. You are not a visitor, you're the owner, but there is still some advice here that you should follow. Specifically, "First things first...Does your IP address match the one in our DNS database? Log in to your No-IP account on our website from the host location. Once you're logged in and have accessed your account, check your current IP address by looking at the upper left-hand corner of the page. You should see text that reads "Logged In As: (your username here)" and "Current IP: (your.ip.address.here)." Now go to the Hosts/Redirects page and click "Manage." Your current host list should appear and the IP address for the host you're trying to reach should match the IP address you're logged in from. If you see a different IP address for your hostname than what you expect, that's going to prevent you from making a connection to that host. If you're not yet running our No-IP DUC software to track your IP address, you should install it now." http://www.no-ip.com/support/basic-troubleshooting.php There are more things there that you can try, but the first suggestion they gave above makes me wonder about my original assumption again. When you have finished working on a specific page of your site, do you then upload it somewhere or do you publish it to a site on the internet? If not, then these files are being hosted directly from your computer.
