Don, I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're looking for. There is a theme manager built into Windows. There are many utilities out there to extend that functionality, like the infamous Stardock WindowBlinds. Stardock has several products to customize Windows. There are several others, but I can't think of their names right now. I'm not sure if those things are what you are talking about, or if you're talking about virtual desktops, where you can run programs on different virtual desktops and switch between them easily. There are several of those also. I read about one recently that uses a 3D workspace. Ah, here it is, a program called Deskspace at http://www.otakusoftware.com/deskspace/. Now that I re-read your message I'm thinking you are most likely talking about the virtual desktops. I haven't used one in a long time, but I can see what I can dig up. Do you want one with just the basic functionality of a tray icon that lets you switch easily and have different wallpaper? Or would you be interested in more functionality? Here are a few I see from a quick search: VirtuaWin - The Virtual Desktop Manager for Windows (up to 9)(free) http://virtuawin.sourceforge.net/ WinXP PowerToys - Virtual Desktop Manager (up to 4)(free) http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Vista/XP Virtual Desktop Manager (infinite)(looks free) (this one looks interesting... I'll have to play with it) http://www.codeplex.com/vdm This is not what you want, but interesting: http://www.virtualdesktop.org/ Some downloads from cnet: http://download.cnet.com/windows/virtual-desktop-managers/ Ed -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of recklessmaverick@xxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 10:22 AM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: How many "Desktop"s is enough?? Is it possible you may have a utility installed to create and manage desktops for a single user? These provide multiple desktops without the need of creating multiple users. This saves you time by allowing you to change your desktop without logging off and back on as a different user.
